Space Research Expertise
Research Skytek has gained expertise through participation in a number of Space Programmes and European Research Projects. This expertise makes us a valuable partner in Space activities related to:
Man Machine Interface (MMI) Solutions
Software Development Environments
Man Machine Interface (MMI) Solutions
Skytek are involved in the development of the
International Procedure Viewer
(iPV), the system used jointly by
ESA
and
NASA
for the deployment and execution of Operation Data File based procedures. The iPV builds on the work done within the 'Manual Procedure Viewer 2nd Generation' (MPV2G) project and provides a system with requested functionality by users within both ESA and NASA. The system allows execution of ODF procedures written within the ODF Procedure Authoring Tool (PAT) and which conform to the common ODF XML Schema.
The iPV system displays ODF checklist procedures by using Java technologies to apply stylesheets to XML documents and producing HTML for display within a standard web browser. The user has the ability to enter and store data, change parameters, associate annotations and access reference documentation linked to procedures. The iPV system has the capability of rendering logic flow procedures using an advanced Java based applet which interprets the XML representation of an LFP and rendered it within a web browser. The iPV system also uses advanced Java based server side components for the transformation of ODF procedures along with data and parameters entered by end users into PDF representations for viewing and printing.
Software Development Environments
Skytek is currently participating in the definition and implementation of the Software Development Environment (SDE) for development of
Space Palmtop
based applications for use on board the International Space Station.
The SDE will be used by Skytek to develop a number of Space Palmtop based applications in 2005. The applications will be developed to be deployable on multiple palmtop devices which are capable of executing
J2ME CDC
compatible applications.
